About Me

I live in Colorado with my husband and 3 children. These 4 people definitely keep me busy, and I don't get to spend as much time sewing as I would like to, but I feel SO very fortunate to be able to stay home with them and be the best mom/wife I know how.

I learned to sew in 1997 when I was teaching biology in a small school in Georgia. The Home Ec class was during my planning period, so when I could, I would go sit in with my own students and try to learn how to sew. Talk about humbling! :o)  I then started working part-time at Joann's, and started to build a fabric stash. I didn't have any quilting mentors, really, and while I wanted to keep at it, the judgment and negative comments from others kept me from carrying on, so I quit. And gave away my entire fabric stash.

But then in 2009, my best friend got pregnant and I wanted to make her a baby quilt. She's cool and hip, so I googled "modern quilt", and found Alissa Haight Carlton, and the LA Modern Quilt Guild, and my life has been forever changed for the better! :o)

We moved from LA to Colorado in 2010, and I started the Front Range MQG here, and was president for 3 years. I'm very thankful for the group of truly incredible women who are a part of this guild. I know, without a doubt, that I am a better person for knowing each of them. :o)

I am a Christian, and we are very active in our little church here, and we love our church family so much. I feel blessed to have been able to find great churches most of my life.

I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend. I am a sewist, a fabric hoarder, a paper snob, a calligrapher, and a quilter.

I am a maker.
